Default Clutch advice

Ok guys, I searched for aftermarket clutches here to see what some of the guys with higher HP applications are running, but the most I came up with was the LS7 clutch.

I be straight up...I am clutch dumb, but I know that mine is going to be replaced. I want to know what you guys with big HP numbers are running and how you like it. I will have a 402 with a magg on top until the KB comes out (if it ever does ). What do you suggest? The car will be mostly a street car and may see some autox (doubtfull ) and driven on nice days, so I can give up some stock feel for more performance.

Now....lay it on me!

do a search on the "textralia" clutch. hear nothing but good things. expensive, but supposed to be worth it. i went with spec 3 plus. having issues now, but not sure whats causing them.

LS7 clutch is just too new for me. i havent seen anyone post any numbers as to how much power the clutch will hold. there are a bunch of people running that setup now, but only time will tell how long that clutch will last with 500+rhwp

You're probably going to be pushing too much power to run an OEM LS6 or LS7 clutch.

I run 600 rwhp with the Exedy Twin without issue. The clutch is heavy but smooth.

Others seem to like the OZ700 aka Aussie/Textralia, RPS single, or Cartek clutches.

If you search long enough you'll find complaints about all of the aftermarket clutches.

LOL...

I guess it's going to come down to pricing. Everyone wants the bang for the buck, but I want something that will hold everytime, no matter the cost.

I run the spec 5 clutch. Its good for 1200hp so it should hold up nicely. The only downfall to this clutch is the sqeeking I get from the solid disk. It sounds like a belt is squeeking but its the clutch. It only does it from a dead stop when I go to take off. Also this clutch is either on or off, kinda hard to slip sinice there isnt much clutch play. Its either goin to go or its push it in and its off.

I run the LS7 clutch with a Cartek adjustable master and it's great. I'm only at 470 RWHP though.

I think the jurys still out on the LS-7 clutch, we'll see what happens when the big HP cars run it. So far so good.

I would recommend having your new flywheel & pressure plate assy balance matched to the OEM unit. I picked up a-little vibration with an out of the box light weight unit.

slacker RWHP

When I have my heads installed, Im going to go with the LS7 clutch which Ill order this month. With my package, I should be at 410RWHP give or take 5 HP. The LS7 clutch will be perfect and very cost effect for me.

Guys with the 2006 Z06 are putting down an easy 450 RWHP. That clutch will be plenty for my application.

I have the RPS clutch/flywheel in my car now for 2200 miles and I have well over 700 rwhp and it is holding up fine so far and it has had no slicks on the car but quite a few boosted shifts at 6k
