Default Oil filter

Ive got a 2000 vette and I am going to do my first oil change today. I am going to get the Mobile one 5W-30, but what type of filter is a good filter. Also what is the number(size) that I need? Some of the brands I can get local are Fram, K%N, ACdelco, Purolator. Which one is better. I wanted a mobile one filter but cannot find it here local. Thanks

AC Delco PF-46. You can definitely spend more money on a filter, but the gains are debateable. (let the games begin!!!)

HTH, and have a good one,
Mike

Yeah, but you can't run just a plain ol' filter like that, any more than you can run plain ol' Mobil 1.
Ratings be damned, it's got to be a "designer" filter.

So we can feel special.

Autozone carries the Mobil1 oil filter. You'll need an M-107.

"Itsmeek", thought we would have killed this one.
I guess it'll keep going with the guys who list oil filters in their mods......
I run AC Delco in my ECS Paxton blown 2000 FRC.
I run AC Delco in my blown gas + nitrous 1000 horsepower boat motor.
I don't think GM will compromise on a $2.00 part when it comes to keeping their t*ts out of the warranty wringer.

Oil filter study

I am running a Baldwin, but you really can't go wrong with the plain old AC Delco blue filter. Not many want to hear that, but there it is

I go with a M1 filter. I used an K&N once and I found the caseing itself started leaking. I won't go down that road anymore.

I have used them all and can't honestly tell you whether or not one is better than the other.

Amsoil just came out with their new filter that is rate one year and their oil rated 35,000 miles/one year. Great combo for those who only change oil once a year and want the best oil IMHO.

but would it be wise to even go 6 month intervals with a daily driver? 1 year is a red flag to me immediately.

this is going to be hashed to death... Use just about anything you want. I would stay away from fram because they are known to have problems being that the inside is basically cardboard literally. I use K&N simply because of the ease of taking the filter off.
