darn, goodyear has just shown me a bolt through one of my rear tires which is more than1/4 inch round. hence they won't patch it.each rear tire has 6000 miles on it.do i have to buy 2 or just 1 tires?they will sell me 1 tire for $468 dollars including tire, balancing etc.is this a reasonable price? if not ,any suggestions as to where i can get a better price?

Tirerack is a forum sponsor and has very good prices. I wouldn't think you would need two... but you could buy two and keep the other for the next bolt.

At 6k you could be halfway through those tires. Personally, I would buy two new ones and keep the good one for next time as already suggested. A tread guage is real cheap and will tell you where you stand. Check the tread depth on the good tire and I'll bet you'll be able to decide easily. F1 tires have only 8/32 to start with I believe. Tire rack site has the data.
