Default Finally chose headers...

Well, *finally* got off the fence and chose some headers. See thread: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...der&forum_id=1
It was down to:

- QTP Tri-Y's = design intrigued me for low end gains, claim of no need for tune and ease of install.
- LG Pro's = Same low-end gains as Tri-Y.
- StainlessWorks - local company to us; could do install at their shop for $260, may have been able to get good deal on them.
- American Racing headers - another interesting contender; just not enough data on them yet and I'm tired of pondering this decision.

In the end it it ended up being the LG Pros w/ Jet-Hot coating (except for cats) and O2 sensor bung installed.

Things that helped make my decision:
- LG Motorsports answered ALL of my e-mail inquiries w/ complete, honest answers, even suggesting I might not need the Pro's and maybe would be fine with cheaper Street Series (In for a penny, in for a pound...may as well go for the gusto and get the Pro's)
- I was gonna Jet Hot and LG would take care of this for me (probably coulda shipped and stuff to Jet Hot myself and saved a little money but my time/convenience is worth a certain amount of extra $$)
- I *know* they will be respsonsive to my installation/performance inquiries should I have any.
- In the end, the QTP vs. LG Pro's cost factor came out in LG's favor.
- With an A4 I would get a dyno-tune anyway to take care of some other issues so the "no-tune" of the QTP's was really a non-issue.

Now I just gotta decide if i want to try to get my car up 20" off the floor using ramps and jackstands and install 'em myself.

Anyway, I'm not saying my thinking had any rational thought in the end decision but it is what it is. I think, maybe in the end, what really pushed me to the LG's was their service and reputation for responsiveness.

Thanks to all who provided input to all the header threads over the past year.

Headers are pretty easy to install. You might consider installing them yourself and while the stock system is off installing a tunnel plate with the money saved over having them installed.

Yeah...I'm on the fence. Only thing i'm really worried about on the install is getting car about 20" off the ground safely to slide the driver side in from underneath. There are some *very* good write-ups on this install which are tempting me to do it and I think it would be fun to do.

When I did my QTP's, I put the rear wheels on the Rhino ramps and then jacked the front and blocked it under the front cross member. 20" was not too difficult to achieve. I don't use jack stands, I use solid wook blocks like they use for big boats in the boat yard of which we have a lot around here.

Excellent choice. I used QUALITY jack stands that allow 29" off the floor and the install was very easy. If you can do the job SAFELY it's quite rewarding. Congratulations on an excellent choice.

That's what I was thinking; bunch of 6x6's fastened together into a big solid mass/cube...
