My 03 vette grinds when shifting from 1st to 2nd and sometimes 2nd to 3rd. I dropped it off at the dealer today and they "could not duplicate the problem". Are these transmissions hard and knotchy when shifting? The car only has 14,000 miles on it but the warranty runs out soon so I wanted it corrected if it was a problem.
My car did the same thing (esp. on reverse)and I took it to the dealer,. Same advice, and even said to shift to forward gears prior to setting to reverse.
I got a Hurst, it helped it quite a bit.
Try switching to synthetic transmission fluid. Im running Redline now.
It is good that it was documented though (assuming the dealer put the complaint into their computer). Switching tranny fluid will usually help, but your car doesn't have that many miles on it for this to be the problem.
Be careful of switching to a different shifter should you choose that route. The dealer would most certaintly blame any transmission problems on an aftermarket shifter, even though you would have gotten the shifter after the transmission problems surfaced.
