What brand of fluid are you using and how often are you changing your fluid?
I drag race my vette quite often and have changed it twice a season or about every 30 runs. Probably not often enough but would like to hear others recommendations.
I started out with Red Line fluid but last change, went with Royal Purple. Any other recomendation?
I was using RP for everything and liked it (esp the synco mesh). Could feal no delta with RP in the dif on my 342. The 390 has redline and GM additive. DTE ships with redline so, that is what we used. Good luck!
Dave
RP is what I use in engine, A4 and rear end...all is great...I don't race tho...

I am running the Amsoil. I don't drag race the car at all, but I do change the tranny/rear fluids about every 10K miles. In my case, that is likely total overkill, but it makes me feel better.
Engine: Mobil1 5w40
Tranny: Mobil1 ATF
Rear: 1st fill was AC Delco Synthetic + friction modifier. My *ss hurt so much after paying for those two quarts... next fill
Mobil1 75w90 w/ friction modifyer.
Here's a good tip for anyone planning on changing lube in engine, trans, or rear diff. in the near future. Magnetic drain plugs are available from a variety of suppliers for the engine oil pan, M6 manual trans, (not sure about the auto) and the rear diff. Nice little extra bit of insurance, and an early warning of imminent problems. A little bit of metal fuzz is nothing to worry about, but larger pieces or chunks is a sure sign of a problem.
I change mine about every fourth track weekend, which for me equates to about 500 miles, but my usage is obviously atypical.

Redline uses a ester basestock. RP doesn't say what they use. I would be very surprised to find RP uses an ester, or a PAO basestock (as AMSOIL and Mobil 1 use).
I will probably go back to RedLine on the next change. Did not notice much difference when using the RP, and as stated before, that is what came with the DTE rear end.
Mobil 1 75W90 + additive.
I have read over the past two years on this forum of many who used the advertised "additive already in oils" and were subsequently disappointed with noise...
I've never read a post of anyone being disappointed with Mobil 1 + additive....

Too much additive, independent of brand, can result in too little friction between the clutch plates in the diff lowering the diff's ability for limited slip. This will result in more torque going to the tire with less grip. While this probably won't hurt anything, for those who want maximum performance out of their car, too much friction modifier isn't a good thing.

I go about two SCCA track weekends on engine oil, and four on tranny and diff fluid based on my previous experiences and the advice of those racing in SCCA T1 class a lot longer than I have. It should be noted that I don't get nearly the track time in an SCCA race weekend than most due in a Driver's Education track day weekend. I typically get about four track sessions in a weekend.
The amount of fluid I use isn't applicable to most as I have an oil cooler, an accusump, and a tranny cooler.
The stock C5/Z06 takes about 7 quarts for the engine, 3.7 quarts for the tranny (manual) and 1.7 quarts for the diff.
The owners manual calls for about 1.7 quarts of synthetic 75w90 and 4 oz of GM friction modifier, but as discussed above, this friction modifier is already in most top synthetic diff fluids, so if you add a 4 oz bottle, you will actually have the equivalent of 8 oz of friction modifier in your diff.
