got a 2000 frc, just found a small hose leak where the hose meets where the radiator fluid is stored. THe clamp is tight around the hose, and I have been driving the car a little hard the past few days...
It seems like there is some white insulation that is inside of the hose, and some of it was starting to come out from the tip. I figure the insulation or whatever is to keep the fluid from leaking out when the pressure increases rapidly. The leak is not that substantial, really small, the fluid is basically just bubbling out from a small gap in the white insulation. Any upgraded hose I should replace it with or should I just go to GM and get another hose? Thanks for the help

The "white insulation" of which you speak, sounds to me like the re-inforcing cords used in the manufacture of the hose itself.
I would just replace the hose and be done with it. HTH
BTW, if your 2000 still has the original factory hoses, I would definitely replace all of them now. They are all 6 to 7 years old and you may be living on borrowed time as it is.
If you can wait a week for delivery, contact Gene at Fred Beans. You will save a bunch of money and be able to do more hoses for the same price. Make sure you have a big wide bucket when you pull the hoses off the side of the pump, what a mess!!!! I use one of those tube you can buy at Wal Mart for storing clothes and stuff, it is about 2 ft X 2-1/2 ft and 6 inches deep. After the coolant stops draining you can wash off the frame and the front spring with some clean water. Good opportunity to put in fresh coolant as well. Wal Mart sells the Dexcool and you can get distilled water from them as well to mix with the Dexcool in a 50/50 mix.
Nows the time to change colors on your hoses. Go to sporthoses.com and get some high quality Silicone blue or red mains and heater hoses to spruce up the engine.
They also have green orange, yellow, purple if you're into that stuff. $260 for the full set.

Good suggestion. Or you can call Fichtner Chev @ 1-800-234-5284. Ask for Bob in parts. They are also forum vendors here and will definitely treat you right on pricing too. Unless you know someone that can get good pricing locally, either of these two vendors will be waaaaay cheaper. HTH
