Hey everyone,
I need your help. I have a 2000 Corvette Coupe with problems with the Key Fob keyless entry system. The only way to lock or open the doors is by coming real close to the driver's side door. If I move around to the passenger side or move about two feet away from the car the key fob will not open or lock the doors. The key fob is brand new. Is there some fix to this and increase the receivers distance? I use to have a Mustang and the key fob worked from inside the house. If anyone can share their knowledge about this it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for the response. I only have one new remote. The old ones didn't work at all when I bought the car and threw them out. I changed the batteries on both of them and reprogrammed and still didn't work. Finally I decided to go and buy a new remote and its still not working properly. It only works up close to the driver's door. There has to be something wrong with the receiver.
Wow,, never had this problem. Sounds like the Remote Function Actuator (RFA) module is not functioning properly. Check your codes and see if you have any for that module. See if you can find one in the C5 parts for sale and replace this module. There are lots of people parting out C5's!!!
Yes, Thanks Bill. I think I recall getting an error code from the RFA. I am not sure what number code. I have to check when I get home from work. Do you happen to know where it is exactly located or what the service manual says on this? I heard its in back of the drivers seat near the rear speaker.
