Default DIC Code P0300 and sputtering

Ok so the car is sputtering bad and actually shuts off if I let it idle...It generated the P0300 code but doesn't tell me anything else. I recently got the P0200 (Injector Control Module) and got that taken care of. I looked at it and didn't see anything out of the ordinary.

Plug cables look good and so do the plugs (I didn't pull them)....

Does this sound like a bad coil pack, injector or could it simply be a plug?

Just want to get opinions so I can start pulling plugs and look at it before I wind up taking it to the dealer.

Anyone with previous experience just chime right in...

Mike

There could be a couple of things that cause your misfire:

The wires are spiral wound and have a specific resistance value: The OEM GM wires should read 250-750 ohms. They should not have any tears/burns or rips in the boots or wire insulation.

Also check the connections inside the wires for nasty corrosion!! There should be NONE!!

You could also have a cracked insulator on the spark plug. (been there,, had that!! )

Check the wire resistance and plugs.

If you have to get new wires, you cant go wrong with the GM High Performance RED wires!!!!

Thanks Bill,

The wires are actually brand new. Just bought them when I installed the headers a couple of months ago. They are the OEMs and they look intact. I checked the inside of the connectors and didn't notice any corosion.

I don't see any smoke out the back when the car is on...just a weird situation.

Keep 'em coming if you guys have any idea.

A dirty MAF will show the same symptoms you have. It's easy enough and cheap enough to clean.

check the harness that goes up and over the left head.usually the harness rubs through creating the P0200[injector driver circuit].

*QUOTE"
Just bought them when I installed the headers a couple of months ago.

This is where I developed a serious engine miss. I found that I had a cracked spark plug insulator that would leak voltage under power and run smooth as a kitten idling and light cruising!

I have a picture of the plug:

You can see the fine vertical crack!!! I could hear mine arc if I reved it up slightly but to find it I had to remove each plug and check them.

I recommend removing the plugs and looking for cracks especially around the area where the porcelain meets the metal base.

Thanks Bill...I'm going to pull the plugs today and see what I find.

Thanks,
