You are suppose to use blue. Blue can be overcome with mechanical means (wrench), red takes heat to remove.

Isn't 242 the blue medium strength? All that aside, I just replaced the bolts as called for in the service manual.

Everyone in my vette group around here used red! I used red also last month when I changed rotors and pads. I used my impact wrench to loosen them up. Turn the front wheels to get more room on the bolts. No problem with the rears either.

Red for the caliper bracket (large two bolts) and Blue for the two small caliper mounting bolts.

Red for the Caliper brackets bolts ( two big ones) torque 125 ft-lbs
Blue for the caliper mounting bolts ( two small ones) torque 23 ft-lbs

Make sure you clean all four bolts with a wire brush prior to re-use

...just to clarify....

Red (271) is "permanent" Loctite. Typically, threads to which it had been applied can be loosened only with heat or copius amounts of torque or both.

Blue (242) is medium strength for 1/4-inch and larger screws/nuts

Pink (222) is low-strength for screws/nuts smaller than 1/4-inch.

Blue (425) is for plastic screws and nuts.
