I just bought a 2000 Coupe and today I replaced the stock air filter with a K&N filter. I read the instuctions and the new filter included a gasket that needed to be installed into the air filter housing. I removed the intake tube at the MAF and removed the filter housing without incident, but the problem now is this..... I can't get the #*@&$^$ tie-down straps back into the bottom half of the housing.
Is there an "easy" way to reinstall the tie-down straps on the the filter housing cover??? How in the heck does one get them back in???
Any help would be greatly appreciated..... Thanks!!!

They should just kinda snap back into place. Mine have come off many times and they were never hard to get back together. I'll give you a tip though, put the air filter box assembly, with filter, together before you put it in the car. If you put the box back in the car without the filter and tray, when you try to put the filter in, it may drop down and miss the seal, pulling in dirty air, and you will not know it. Good luck!
It only took scrolling back through 14 pages and a link to another site http://www.ls1howto.com/index.php?article=19 to show me how they removed the entire air box...... I hadn't removed the top of the box
I removed the top and reassembled the unit, hooked up the hose and sensors and replaced the air bridge back into the car. I connected the throttle housing and got the air bridge onto two of the grommets.....
Now that it's almost 3:30AM and I should get some sleep.... I'm open to suggestions on how to get the two grommets connected on the front of the air box, back onto the car....
Assuming you have the grommets located in the front cover (as opposed to sitting on the frame mounts), apply grease (wheel bearing / lithium / whatever you have) to the inside of the rubber grommet.
The airbox should slide on to the frame mounts much easier, as well as assisting future removals. You can't use too much grease, it's not like the air box will pop off the mounts.
Those 2 grommets have small plastic "studs" in them. You must pry them out with a screwdriver to remove or replace the grommets. They expand the grommets.
