Default ABS/TC/Active Handling woes

Ok, so something strange happened this weekend while working on my '99. I pulled the AC head unit out of the car because the backlights are not working at the moment. I took the unit apart and resoldered the 8 resistors (per methods obtained here on the forum). Well, after I did this and re-installed it, I began getting these messages on my DIC "Service Active Handling Sys" "Service ABS" "Service Traction Control". I pulled the codes and the one that keeps coming back is TCS C1234, which is "LR Wheel Speed Circuit Open or Shorted". I then pulled the LR wheel and inspected the connections and everything seems to be fine. The connectors do not look dirty and everything seems ok from under there. So, my question is could this be a completely unrelated problem from resoldering or pulling the center console apart? To me they seem to be, but I'm just wondering if something else could have happened.

Also, I reset the codes and drove the car again, and the code comes up after driving a block or so. If it is in fact a bad wheel speed sensor, I understand that these are built into the hub, and where can I get one for a fair price?

Oh, and after resoldering the AC unit, the lights still don't work!

Thanks,

That's bad luck. Send a PM to Bill Curlee he will set you right.

These codes are usually a result of a poor ground, weak battery, or a flakey connection. I had a nasty flakey wire in my 98 that took 10 hours to locate.

As stated above, Bill C is THE GURU on the forum on these issues.

Good luck,

I contacted Bill Curlee (super nice guy by the way) and he pointed me in a direction to solve this problem. Last night, I pulled the connection from the LR wheel speed sensor and applied some dielectric grease. The female connector looked fine, but you never know. I then went out for a drive. I drove for 30 minutes and no codes! Before...the codes would come up after only a few blocks. However the codes did come back under a spirited 1-2 and 2-3 shift. I then reset the codes, drove another 15 minutes and it was fine. So, it seems to me that it's the connection at the wheel speed sensor. I'll probably go ahead and splice in a new connector to see if I can rid the problem entirely.

Thanks again Bill
