I have owned my red top for about five years...no problems here.
I had 2 delco's and after spending about 5 hrs cleaning up the frame , repainting the battery box and neutralizing the acid I bought Optima because they were at that time the only ones that were better at leakage . I always figured it is easier to change batteries than frames and computers. My car is driven at least weekly year round unless a hurricane like Katrina passes through. Then the car is in a warehouse for storage / protection. My optima red top now shows 11.1 volts and the volt meter is correct. This is on first start up and after sitting about a week. With the starter turning the engine over it drops to 10.4 or so,, doesn't stay long. The engine always starts . I can't help but wonder what is the normal at rest engine off voltage of AGM or sprial wound,, or leak proof or red top or what ever you care to call the Optima. Granted given the issues that have shown up I might consider another brand. But mine at least for now is working. vettdvr (there is no leakage )
