I went out to head to work yesterday morning. Got in the car and turned to the "on position" (did not try to crank, just to where lights, radio, etc come one). I slammed the door shut and wham... the entire electrical system shut off. Surned the key to the off position, then back on.. NOTHING. It's like someone just pulled the battery. THe power windows don;t work, the interior lights don't work. nothing that had any electrical component work. It's like someone just fried every circuit in the car. Please help me diagnose the problem. The battery was new 3 months ago. the connections are intact.
Where did you get the battery from? It is either a bad battery or a corroded ground. Don't discount the battery even though it is not that old, especially if it is a GM or Wally World battery. There is a ground on each side of the block and one towards the front of the passenger side frame rail.
It sounds like the battery connections are either dirty or most likely LOOSE.
Recommendation:
Even though they look clean, scrub them well with a wire brush, spray the connectors out well with brake parts cleaner and then douse them inside and out with WD-40. Once that is done, re-attach them and torque them down to the battery with a torque wrench to 11 ft/lbs.
If you do this and still have a problem. let me know and I have other things to do!
