Cabin filter?
I just saw on ebay that the C5's have a cabin filter? I had no idea it did. I have a 2000 and Im sure it needs to be replaced.
Can anyone take pics or tell me where this filter is? Most cars are on the pasengers side.
Thanks, here is the link on ebay...

Never heard of the C5 having one.

Sorry I missed seeing this your post. Ironic, I just posted a question about dudting of the dask panel. Amazing timing.
I tried putting an home a/c unit filter(trimmed it to fit on the cowling) as an attempt to cut down on the dust. Didn't work out well.

I just saw an aftermarket filter in the new Ecklers mag.
Basically it's a precut piece of foam that installs over the cowl on the drivers side.

What you described is exactly what I fabricated from a home a/c filter. Sorry to say t wasn't that effective.

I bought an aftermarket filter, it fits over the driver's air intake. I wash and vacuum it regularly. I think it keeps a lot out of the car.

What kind of filter is it? Where did you get it? Is it fastened to the cowel?

I forget where I bought it from. It is a rubber foam filter (like a window air conditioner) about an half inch thick, it attaches to the air intake in the cowl in front of the driver with two sided tape. It costs like $10-13.

Thanks for the input...I'll try doing something like that again. Was wondering if there is anything like a Hepa-Filter available that could be used. I guess it would need to withstand getting wet since it would mount on the cowl.

From what I've seen, the one from Ecklers doesn't fit well.

The C5 (97-2004) does NOT have a cabin filter! The aftermarket is a poor attempt to add one but better than nothing. The C6 on the other hand is suppose to have one!
Have not seen it yet but thats what they tell me.

There is not a filter listed in the GM Parts catalog.

I have wondered about this myself for the fact I just purchased an '04.
A friend of mine had an '02, and he smoked with the a/c on, in his car; we would get back in an hour later and he would turn the a/c back on, and you would never have known that someone had smoked in there. I figured there must have been some sort of hepa filter or something.

Richie, where does this part #, 52469891, go?
Can this be construed as a cabin filter, or simply an A/C filter.

GM Parts Directory lists this part number as the Evaporator Core filter for a 97 - 03 Corvette...

It looks like you would need to remove the fan motor and install it in the air box up against the evaporator. It wont fit anywhere else!
