Default HELP: Electrical issues....

I need some serious help fellas. I was working on my passenger door control module because it wouldnt' unlock the passenger door. Apparently others have had this problem, and I found a thread which stated the relays get carboned up, causing the locks not to work. Others stated to cut a hole in the relay, file the contacts, and then it would work again.

So ...I tried it, and when I hooked the power back to the module...I heard a buzzing sound coming from the the fuse panel area. Sounded like static on a TV or radio...

So it wouldn't stop buzzing...so I quickly disconnected the battery. THere wasn't any smoke or smells.....so after a few minutes, I hooked the battery back up.

Now I have all kinds of electrical problems. No lights, no DIC, there was an "ERR" message on the clock...and the check engine light is on.

The whole car is basically dead......The check engine light is VERY dim...not a bright at all.

Any ideas? Is the PCM toast?... now what???

I have the worst luck....I need help, I have no idea what to do.....

looks like you are going to need a new module for sure...what ever you did, caused a short, obviously,,,,
there Back yard do it youyrself fixes are always riddled with disappointment,.,,sorry for your grief... I would have suggested a new module right off.,..as I have do so many times in the past... I would pull the battery and have it tested,,,also check the grounds,,,

As usual Evil Twin is RIGHT ON THE MONEY!!!

For the car to completely die, you either have a dead battery or the battery cables are loose, dirty, corroded or all the above.

Remove the battery, have it tested at a place that can test batteries and clean the battery terminals. While the battery is out, inspect the area below the battery and under the battery tray for any evidence of an acid spill. White residue and lots of rust on the frame.

When you reinstall the battery, make sure that you torque the battery terminals down to 11 ft/lbs.

See if any of that helps. If it doesn't, Ill buy the car off of ya for $800.

Well...you guys were right. The battery was drained. Strange...it was working fine, then all of sudden nothing.

Glad that's all it was....

This is a common problem with the doors.........the dealer should replace them for free......even out of warranty based on the history of problems with them. Get the TSBs from All Data as evidence, worked for me.

Good Luck
