Column Lock Help!
Now I don't know how the recall could have already been done if there was "no recal" according to him. My question is, what should I do? Don't they have to fix my column lock on them since there was indeed a recall regardless of what the dealership says??
Thanks

We did the recall for the second time on Lead Foots car. (Hi Kelvin). When you talk to the Manager od Advisor let them know that you are getting the "pull key/wait 10 seconds" message on the DIC. The new recall is 04006C, which actually has been revised twice since it's inception a couple years ago. They will need to perform the new version and remove the plate this time. We have done a BUNCH of these since the new version came out and have gotten every one paid by GM. The dealership can contact me if they need assistance. PM me if that is needed and I'll give you the phone # and contact info.

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts

I mean, look at guys like RichieRichZ06. He's a parts manager, so he doesn't control what happens in the service department, yet, he made an offer on this forum to help us with our column lock issues, right? Guess what that means? He helps get us into his dealership, we get taken care of, they get paid for the work from GM, and he's just helped his dealership get more exposure to people who otherwise would not even think of taking their car to a dealership, right? Well, Rich has provided his service department the opportunity to demonstrate their abilities, and because of his efforts, and the abilities of the techs there, everybody wins. I'm happy because I was taken care of, and now know of a place I can go to that I know is capable when I need something in the future, Rich looks good for bringing in business, and the service department gets paid for the recall work, plus here I am pretty much promoting Woodard Chevrolet for them!
So, what the he|| is wrong with that dunce over at the obviously a Chevrolet dealership in San Diego? Is he just plain stupid, or what? Because this doesn't require a degree to figure this stuff out, it's all just plain common sense. Well, maybe sense isn't so common.
saniterium92128, go ahead and print my post here and give it to the owner of the dealership, if you like!

OR #2. Have the dealership call Tech Assist and tell them the problem. The absolute correction is to have them install the late 2004 lock actuator to cure this. The 2004 actuator never had a problem like the others. We have done this, but ONLY under orders from tech assist. I would go about doing it this way. Like I said before I am more than happy to inform other dealers about the road we have had to travel to get the knowledge on this recall and the good outcomes we have had.
Good luck, because you shouldn't have to pay for this at all, not even a warranty deductible.

BTW, you didn't specifically say what happened, but did you have fuel shut off? Is that what happened? Because if your car indeed had all recalls done, then the column could NOT have locked, you know what I mean?
