You mean you would rather have ill fitting NON coated headers new than coated direct fit headers for the same price? The first time you start your car after the install-they are now USED.
LG Streets - non coated 304 stainless
LG Pros - non coated 304 stainless
Dynatechs - non coated 304 stainless
Kooks - non coated 304 stainless
So yea, I'm OK with buying some non coated 304 stainless headers for $300. How are they ill fitting? I would bet that these headers would clamp right up to your x pipe just like your TPIS ones do. The only remaining 'issue' is the O2 sensors needing to be installed before the headers go in which is not abnormal. I have heard of LG cutting holes in the tunnel plate to allow the O2s to clear.
You found a good deal on some used headers, great. There are not THAT many deals like that out there. Granted I did see a set of TPIS with cats and x pipe on the for sale forum local to me for $650 right after I bought these but thats how it goes. This thread is documenting a repeatable way to get a new set of long tubes and high flow cats for $500-600.

Wow, unbelievable price. Only problem with me is I don't have the ability to install them. I'll have to check around for local shops that would be willing to do it. Anyone know anyone? I feel you really need someone familiar with these particular headers and already known how to fix any problems with them.
As far as cats, which are the best bang for the buck? The $60 Magnaflows? I just need 2 for my 01Z, right?
Also, can someone give links on where to get the other necessary parts for a complete system similar to dynatech supermaxx.
does anybody know the the ebay selles name that was selling these headers
Don't know what happened but the guy doesn't have them on there any more. He may have sold all he had. I hope he is reordering 'cuz I was ready to pop for a set.
Crap, wish I would have seen that when I got mine. Would save me from hacking up my stock center section.
Don't think he was offering the X pipe when you bought your headers. Noticed that he is looking for installation photos and will refund half the purchase cost to whoever sends him the pics. Don't know who this seller is but he seems to be responsive to input from customers.
I have installed these headers also. Along with new heads and intake. These headers really are VERY easy to install.
The pass side easily drops in from the top and the drivers side is a little tight but does go in.
The trick to getting them in on the drivers side is to center your front wheels. Remove your steering column bolt at the rack. Move the steering column off the rack and remove your oil filter. Aim the collector where your filter was and insert.
It will then snugly fit in from the top.
I have a few 1000 on now and really like these headers. No issues at all yet. I did port match these also as I have ported heads.
I see that some had issues with the ac line. All you have to do in bend the line towards the fender applying pressure on the hard line coming off the compressor. It is soft aluminum and freely bends.
I just installed the headers and X pipe on my 02 Z06. They went in fine but I do have a few complaints. 1st thing is the 02 sensors are rubbing the bellhousing on the drivers side some and on the passenger side they are rubbing the frame alittle. Not a real big deal cause they arn't that tight, but they could be better. 2nd thing is the headers rub on the bellhousing alittle and at about 50mph it does cause a vibration on the car. I'm gonna have to get that fixed cause its alittle annoying. 3rd thing is the X pipe is meant for you to cut your stock cats out of the stock H and reinstall them with the X pipe. In other words, the X pipe they send is about 2.5ft short and not full length. I went ahead and had some pipe made up so I could delete the cats.
Honestly, there not bad if you really want a cheap way to get power, but just as I expected, you get what you pay for.
I have documented the whole install and it will be sent to them so they can see the issues with these. Hope this helps any of you that are looking at these right now.
O by the way, there is a definite power difference with this and a twin cone cold air intake. The sound with the stock Ti cat back is about the same at idle and about 40% louder at WOT.
Did mine this weekend. Went in pretty easy; Both from the top. On the driver's side I removed alterhator, steering shaft (completely) and the valve cover. On the passenger side I didn't remove anything other than the coil pack covers and coil packs. Needed to install the O2's before bolting them up like mentioned before and like BLK01SS mentioned the O2's do contact the bellhousing as does the passenger side collector. I used a pickle fork to bend the air conditioning line from the firewall to the compressor closer to the frame because it was contacting the header too.
I thought 3" - 2.5" reducers would be easy to come by but I was wrong so I was not able to mate the headers to my Thunderbolt cats to the mid section so I drove it open headers to work (not as fun as it sounds!) and dropped it off at Meineki (sp). They are charging me $75 to weld the cats to the midsection with reducers and band clamp the cats to the headers. So I will have <$500 into the whole system when it's all said and done.
I can't speak to seat of the pants or even sound until I pick it up from the muffler shop.

Did it set any codes? Did you drop the hammer on it just ONCE to let the world hear the glorious sound of a blown C5? If you did, has your @$$ stopped vibrating yet?
I haven't checked the DIC but I did not get any check engine light running with the open headers. Probably because the O2's were plugged in but just recieving mostly fresh air so they were reading lean and thought, "Wow, the cats are doing a really good job!".
I wanted to drop the hammer but I didn't. I gave it a little throttle and the vibrations were crazy. I was only a couple blocks from the house when I was thinking, "This may not have been such a good idea after all". The thing sounds bad *** when you start it though, very NASCAR'esque.
