After all the issues with these headers it does not seem worth it to me. You guys are braver than I....
I suspect that if we knew ALL the details of any brand of header install that there would be a number of fabrications made to get the job done. That's what they call high performace...make it work!
David.
ok i found 2 sets on the "auction site" one has an x pipe included for $399 and another company "powerboost29" has them for 300 w/o an x pipe. Now the one from the xspower has pics from powerboost's site if you see the pics. Whats going on here and who did you guys get yours from?
someone mentioned ssautochrome and it looks like alot of people are mad at that guy and has opened up under a different name. Could very well be one of the guys i just mentioned.
I bought mine from powerboost for $300 without the x-pipe. The box I got had SS AutoChrome stickers on it. The pics of the ones like mine are the same as on the ssautochrome site. The pics of the ones with the x-pipe from xspower say copyright PowerBoost29. I'm sure that all three are doing business with each other if they are not the same company. Lets not over-think this. Whether you get them without the x-pipe from powerboost, or directly from the ssautochrome site or from xs-power with the x-pipe the headers will be the same.
Here is a Q & A asked and answered about a set with an x-pipe:
Q: why are you selling this item so cheap??? is something wrong with the material??? how do they compare to other brands like LG or KOOKS???
A: This item is made in the US, so we have cut out the middle man. This is a quality item. They are stainless steel and come with an awesome two year warranty.Thank you for your inquiry. Please visit us on the web at www.ssautochrome.com & www.xs-power.com.
So I don't think there is any collusion going on although I don't see the headers on the xs-power site, it's all import/turbo stuff.

All the negative posts I see are Honda guys who bought cheap turbos from them and they all blew the seals.

Ricers with bad attitudes- who would have guessed?
I wrote them a few days ago. I'd like to get a set this winter. I asked about them moving the bungs and a direct bolt on setup for later C5s. I'm still waiting for a response.
Pelican driving down I-95 just outside Palm Beach notices smoke coming from beneath his 01 coupe. Pulls into a garage to have it looked at, says he's going to run over to the Dairy Dip for a few minutes. After an hour he comes back and the mechanic says "Looks like you blew a seal" and the pelican says "Naw it was a vanilla cone and it leaked".

silly ricers trix are for kids.( sad thing is I was a ricer a few years ago with a built eclipse turbo)
I have an aftermarket X and the stock cats/down pipe. Are these headers long enough to connect to the stock H/X pipe if I run NO CATS? If not, what tubing is needed?

I have a Magnaflow x-pipe and used a 26" piece of pipe from a local muffler shop. I used 2 1/2" diameter pipe that was stretched to fit over the 3" header collectors, then clamped it on.

I wrote with the same questions again yesterday. I told them that a bunch of us on CF are waiting for an answer. I'd like to get a set before a price increase bites me, but I want it to truely be a bolt on setup.
Does anyone have any comments about Wrapping the exhaust with heat wrap? Just curious if the headers would rust through or whatever....
As a matter of fact, I think wrapping the collector in insulation tape may help with lighting off the cats and avoiding O2 sensor codes. The headers are 304 stainless so rusting won't be an issue. Keep us posted on where you get the insulating wrap. Try a supply house that provides equipment for manufacturing plants or commercial heating systems.
Wrapping headers with insulating tape, isn't a very good idea. Even if it is 304 SS. The Stainless will get very hot and the tape will also retain moisture. You will eventually develop cracks and the metal will even corrode even though it is Stainless Steel.
If you want stainless steel to retain the heat, get your headers ceramic coated and save your self a lot of headaches. Ceramic coated SS headers work VERY WELL!!!
If you look at the warranty claims from most of the big name header makers, they will state that wrapping the headers will VOID any warranty claims!
