Default Loud Exhaust Question

I have a very loud exhaust note. I have SLP headers (I know), SLP Cats and Mid pipe, and corsa pace car. Question is this. If I buy a Z06 TI exhaust how much will this quiet the car down?. I like the roar but not the roar that you can't drive it hard around with out feeling you're going to get arrested. Thanks.

from what I heard, it will tame it, at least at cruise and idle. and should be calmer at wot. I have a set of zo6 ti catback that has 24K on it or so. I would be willing to take your indys for my car and give you the TI. let me know!!

I put on Ti's and they're not much louded than stock, even with headers. Switched from Borla Stingers because I heard headers will increase loudness. Not bad, if you really get on it.

Matt, listen to a set before you buy; to me they sound like the base exhaust, LT's make a very slight difference

post in the NE section to find someone that is local to you w/ the ti's; only car local, i can think of is the Procharger D1 car we just finished, LT's w/ ti's w/ massive blower whine

I have the Corsa touring cat-back with American racing headers and X-pipe with hi-flow cats. The sound is great, but by no means too loud or a cop magnet.

The stock Z06 mufflers will quiet your car to an acceptable level. My buddy just had a new 441 cu inch motor from A&A Corvette put in his car. He's putting down 560 rwhp and his exhaust sound is not that loud with the stock ti exhaust. The ultimate for a sleeper, for a comfortable quiet car, or just to stay away from trouble with the cops.

I put my stock mufflers back on my car for a while and was amazed at how much quieter the car was. I still ended up going back loud because that is what I want, but the stock Z06 mufflers will make the car real quiet. Plus they do not hinder performance.

Have Ti's with LTs and it sounds great to me. Throaty with no drone whatsoever.

Default Loud???

I lead a mountain drive for my wife's Porsche club (it was her turn to plan the event), the big joke at the next meeting was: "We couldn't see him but we sure could hear him".
I don't have cats and I can make Harleys whimper. I did a noise insulation job on the whole interior, a three day job with double layers on the bulkhead, really made a big difference (on the inside).
Having an over loud exhaust is like carrying a gun, it keeps you polite and not loud and obnoxious but it still feels great.
My friend has an identical car but with high flow cats and it is not overly loud, you might look at your cats, has someone gutted them?

Do you loose any horsepower going from corsa indy's to Zo6 ti with that same setup? I'm just wondering if the Zo6 is more restrictive than corsa.

the cats are factory SLP high flows. Nothing gutted. If the TI's are quieter will it still sound decent? I want to be between stock and what I have. Stock C5's are a whisper. If my stock car was a 2 on a 1-10 scale and the stock Z06 was a 5. My car is a 10. 10 being the loudest. Obnoxious above 1/2 throttle. Full throttle sounds like open exhaust. When I had my car dyno'd he had the doors shut and neighbors from down the street called the cops.

sounds like you really need to try some Ti's. If your car is THAT loud then you're still going to have some volume with the Ti's. I have good volume with my LTs.

i absolutely love the sound of the my corsa exhaust with my headers now. i put the x pipe in and it toned them down. now they are back to life with the headers. the only time they are loud is WOT or real close to it.

Corsa Touring is about halfway between Ti's and Indy's
I know, I had Indy's on a h/c car and it was LOUD. My friend has Ti's on almost the same car and and it's pretty tame, I have Stingers now, and they are as loud as the Corsa's, but a deeper tone. When I get my lift the first thing I'm going to do is swap my TI's in, but keep the Borla's for when I want to make some noise.

I've been searching through the forums looking for pro's and con's of the SLP Longtube headers and I'm not finding much. What did you mean by the "(I know)" statement?
