Default Tire Pressure re-learn problem

Bought new rims tires and sensors for my 99, try to do the re-learn and cant get even 1 to beep. If I put 1 of my old wheels near the car and place the magnet near the sensor I get a beep in 10 seconds. I'm using a speaker magnet which has worked on several sets in the past.
Anyone have some other tips?

Are you sure the sensors you bought will work with a '99? The sensors changed for '01 and later years.

What did the sensors that you had instaled look like??

The one on the RIGHT or the one on the LEFT??

This is a late model C5 sensor 2001-2004

The one on the right is early C5 sensor 97-2000. It is larger and flatter.

Looks like the correct one, bigger and flatter, slight curve to it

Is there any way (me or a dealership) to tell what sensor it is without removing it?

You can get someone to break the tire bead and you can see it on the rim. You dont need to remove the tire from the rim.

I can't get mine to reprogram. I got a new set of wheels and tires so the sensors got moved to different corners of the car. I'm using a speaker magnet, holding it on the valve stem, but it never beeps. Should I hold it on the wheel or what?

Hopefully, your sensors are mounted in the stock location (at the valve stem hole) and not strapped in! If they are mounted in the valve stem hole, you will need to enter the tire pressure sensor training sequence in the DIC!

Here is the link to the Tire Pressure Sensor sequence:

https://www.corvetteforum.com/techti...D=77&TopicID=1

If you cant get to it:

I used this message forwarded from a fellow forum memeber and it worked just as described. Thought I would post for anyone else that may need to reset their TPMs. 1) Turn ignition on 2) Press "Reset" button in order to clear any IPC display warning messages 3) Press and release the "Options" button on the DIC to scroll through the display options until the IPC display is blank 4) Press and hold the DIC "Reset" button for 3 seconds 5) Press the "Options" button again until TIRE TRAINING message appears 6) Press "Reset" button until the IPC "Learn L Front Tire" message appears in order to begin the programming 7) Install the J41760 Tire Pressure Monitor (TPM) System Programming Tool (large magnet will do) over the left front valve stem 8) The horn will sound, indicating the left front TPM sensor is programmed (if this takes more than 15 seconds, pull magnet back and try again, it will give you three tries. Then you must start over) 9) When the horn sounds, proceed to program the next TPM sensor in the following order as directed by the IPC messages: -Learn R Front Tire -Learn R Rear Tire -Learn L Rear Tire Programming can be canceled by turning ignition off, waiting 2 minutes with no sensors being learned, finishing all 4 wheels or through the DIC. If the programming is canceled with less than 4 sensors learned, it will only accept the codes programmed up to that point.

If there strapped in,, you need to figure out where they are exactly so that you can hold the magnet over them!

Thanks Bill. That is the procedure I was trying and it wasn't working. My sensors din't need to be strapped in, they are just threaded in like stock. I go thru the procedure and it just never beeps on the first wheel. I'm wondering if I need to touch the magnet to the actual inner valve stem needle or to the wheel right next to it?

It could depend on the tires you have. The sensors do not work well or at all with some tires.

Place the magnet directly over the area of the wheel where the sensor is. You may need a stronger magnet.
