Default Dyno Tune Or Not!!

Hey guys,
I just recently completed (with alot of assistance) install of headers (LG Strret Series) and Cam (MTI Stealth II). I opted to go with Z06 TT's for the exhaust instead of cat backs. Personal choice- absolutely love it! The car (2001 vette) is running great. No codes! After about 250 mi. I assume the PCM is settling. it seems to be running better than the first few miles right after the installs. As far as mods go (other than cosmetic), I think the last will be Halltech Stinger CAI. Having said as much, should i pop for a dyno tune? I don't really care what rwhp is cause the it feels great (comparatively speaking). Plus I have been qouted $500-600 for tune and dyno. i can get the dyno itself for much less.
We set everything back to stock after the cam install. What will a tune do? HP vs. $$...???
Appreciate your comments.

I GOT NO FEED BACK RUNNING THIS IN THE "SCAN AND TUNE" SECTION. HOPEFULLY I WILL GET SOME COMMENTS HERE,

THX

With headers and cam you should see a benefit with a dyno tune. One thing that must be checked is your AFR (Air / Fuel Ratio). If your too lean you can damage the engine, and if your too rich you may not be making the Hp you should.

With the mods you listed you should get a dyno tune. The car will run better and will make the most of what you have done. I got mine tuned after just a header install. Prices usually run 4 to 500. You will also pickup more HP after the tune.

I personally would tune it. Setting the proper AFR is critical and probably the most important thing a tuner does. I've seen tuning prices range from $250-500.

You need to get a tune. Just did Melrose headers and high flow cats, car ran ok but after the tune it's a beast. Tune cost 300.00 with another 150.00 for wide O2 bug and other fixes.

Unless you plan on doing a lot of drag racing, a dyno tune for what you have is overrated. Find someone with good scan/tune equipment and log a 20 minute run. Since 99% of the time you are going to run the car on the street, a good street tune is better than a great dyno tune.

Best of both worlds is a scan tune followed by a dyno tune...then you should be in the $400-500 range. Like you found out, it takes about 40 cycles for the PCM (around 200 miles) to do a full relearn, this is true of a stock PCM or one that has been reflashed.

When changes are made to an engine, the only ways to measure the results are timed runs or with scan/log equipment. Too many friends have added "go fast" equipment (5hp here and 10 hp there) only to find out the corvette is only louder, not faster.
