Default software available to program obd2?

I have a 2004 Z06 and I would like to add tire pressure sensor functionality to the pcm (dealer incorrectly told me I need a new computer). I would like to also change fan on temps.

Since I cannot get my local dealer (South Texas) to do it is there a way for me to accomplish this on my own with a pc? Is there retail software that I can buy that is reliable?

Thanks very much,
Ron P.

Yes for fan temps, No for the TPS (Tire Pressure Sensors). As far as I know you must use a GM Tech2 to program the TPS options. Most dealers will do it for a minimum charge, normally takes less than 15 minutes. Here is a link to the exact procedure.

http://www.stopforce.com/RPO.html

PC software for tuning which includes fan temps can be found at:

http://www.efilive.com
http://www.hptuners.com

They are not cheap! If the fan temps is all you need changed you would probably be better off taking the car to a tuner who already has the software and pay them to change them for you.

Edit: The TPS are controlled by the BCM (Body Control Module) not the PCM. Another reason your standard tuning software won't do it.

I have them installed in my 02 Z06 and they work like a champ!!! I too had a dealer tell me that it was NOT possible to do it. I just went to another dealer (better service department) and provided them the procedure and they used the TECH II to program that option in the BCM. I installed my own sensors so, they didnt have to mount the sensors. It cost me $70. (New England labor rates suck!! ) for the programming and tire pressure sensor re-learn.

Just find a better dealer and cross those BOOZOS of the list of dealers that are qualified to work on your car!

Tell the dealer that the 'Special Functions' menu on the tech2 will turn off or on all available options for the year of your car. Since coupes had TPS it is considered an 'option'

I found a shop in Houston familiar with BCM options (Corvettes of Houston-I have ordered parts from them). They will put in the TPS sendors and update the module..
It will make a good road trip.

I just don't trust these folks around here...

Thanks again for the input.
