Default Passed CA Smog Check Today

Took the car to a smog check station today for smogging. I did change the oil and spark plugs to new TR55s just to be sure. I have the Halltech Intake with the carbon fiber bridge, Corsa Touring, and Predator programming.

Passed with flying colors

Now do I dare install my LT headers??? I have 2 years to not worry about it.

You lucked out, bro. It may not turn out so well the next time and I wouldn't want to have to uninstall and reinstall headers. I plan on cleaning my Halltech while the Z06 box is in place for the smog inspection, because with my luck, the tech will spot the very different-looking intake filter as soon as he opens the hood!

No problem passing smog with your setup...as for the LT headers you taking a chance that the smog tech will look the other way on the visual...one member said he was going with the stainless steel because when they burn in a tech may look at them and take them for stoch exhaust manifolds....but they look under the car to make sure you have the CATS still on and they will spot LT headers I'm sure. To be safe I went with the shorties, they have a CARB number on the headers itself.
Good luck bro...

Are there any LT's that are CA legal? I haven't found any yet............But then again, if you know a buddy that works @ a smog shop, maybe he could accidently overlook your visual inspection. [Pass him a C-note] CA sucks; this damn state has the most strict emission laws in the world.

Of course, if that's all they're looking for, you could fab up a plate welded to the long tube headers that has a CARB number on it

Installed my LGM LT right after smog check this year and will never go back to stockers. If I have to spend a weekend swaping back to stock to pass then reinstalling the LT then so be it. The only thing I'm concerned about is the $450 doller tune with LT, Z06 heads & cam and CAI. I'm not crazy about the idea of removing LT & CAI then getting it retuned to pass smog then having to go back and retune again after the LT & CAI go back on.

Just tell the inspector you are in the USA, illegally. Cali will welcome you with open arms and declare you(and you vehicle, drivers licence status) exempt from ALL laws.

God Bless America!

C5Chris - I am in Chino Hills too, mind telling me where you went?

I have an 04 that's not due for smog yet but I'm toying with the LT issue myself...it would be nice to know where a "friendly" test center is.

I could start leaving six packs on their doorstep....

Thanks
