Going from a stock 99 LS1 cam to a GT2-3 cam. Just using some old calipers, I am getting approx. .085" smaller base circle on the GT cam vs the stock. Do I need to use some .040"-.050" longer pushrods to be able to maintane the proper lifter preload?
Anyone know what the proper lifter preload is suppose to be?
Most in the know go with 7.425" (what I did on an identical set up), or you could push it and go for 7.450's. I'd error on the low end. Keep in mind LPE will tell you to use the stock items, and they never replace the p-rods. Doesn't make it right though.
Keep in mind even with a proper length p-rod, you'll still have some light tapping at 2500 RPM with this cam. I'm using 918's, what spring do you plan to go with?
