Default C5 Suspension Mods

Not sure if this is the right Forum for this question but here goes. I've made the $$ commitment for a H/C package this June and even though I haven't modded the car yet, I'm already planning my next mods. I think the bug has bitten

Anyway, have a 2001 six speed / FE1 Base suspension with 27000 miles on the clock. I want to upgrade to 04 Z06 shocks and sway bars. Would changing the springs be wise or are the 01 stock springs OK?

Also, is it a big deal for the average Joe to change springs or is this best left to a Pro?

This is what you should do IMHO.

Change out the sway bars and see how you like it. Then change out the Shocks and see how you like them. Last would be to change the springs, but most people never go that far.

I have Z06 Sways now (moving to T1 bars next week) and Z06 shocks and the car handles great. I am only moving to T1 bars because I do a ton of HPDEs and want the extra handling. I will probably change shocks too, but not springs...

There are alot mods you can do.

I had a 2001 Coupe FE1 (Stock Suspension) and completely updated suspension.

VBP Poly bushings on control arms, bilstein sport shocks, Z06 springs, Hotchics Sway Bars, Elite Tunnel Plate.

I like the way it handles much better now. You can really feel the improvements in sharp turns.

A lot of what you change depends on your driving style and the roads that you drive over. Obviously the bumpier the roads the less spring and shock rates that your would use.

Biggest improvement in turning would come from tunnel plate and sway bars.
