So I took the coupe for a spin parked and when i went to leave the car stalled and the "pull Key" came up???WTF I had the latest recall done and had the cl removed..the car did start right back up.. what should i do...is this normal?
I just had that fiasco last week...got lots of help from the forum, look for my thread "pull key and wait 10sec....its probably on page 8 or so by now......its 2 pages of replys, you definitly arent alone.....Good Luck....
thanks ill check my batt but i just had the new recall remove the plate done 3 mos ago, i dont know any one wanna chime in in a good dealer or place in newyork???
You wasted time at the dealer. You should have installed a CLB and be done with it. Your experiencing what every vette owner experiences by doing the recall route....heartache!
I just installed mine 2 days ago...30min tops, no codes, no locking column!
I'm having the exact same issue right now. I have a new battery I put in last fall. I believe there is a current draw though because after playing music for 20 mins with the car off, the battery is dead. I'd suggest checking for any draws from the battery when the car is off. If find a solution to your problem let me know because I can't figure mine out and the dealer I took it to is not helping in anyway and I do not want to take my car back to them.
well my column isnt locking because i no longer have the plate but the gas cuts off and the car stalls??? should i put on a clb?? is it too late?? please .... someone must know something
I had the same happen to me last weekend. There is a sticky on this, which helped me. I have a 98 which has had the recall. What I found was a faulty K harness, I unpugged it and reconnected my factory wires, and everything has been fine since.
It will probably be best for you to look at the sticky on this, it has a lot of information that will be very helpful. On my 1998 it is located beneath the panel under the stearing column. The actual harness is tie wrapped with a black tie wrap on the left side of the stearing column in a whole. I hope this helps you some. Like I said, look under the C5 tech for the sticky on this subject.
Good Luck!

It sounds like the dealer combined the old recall procedure with the new one. In other words he programmed your computer cut fuel if it detects the steering lock malfunctioning as well as removing your locking plate. Another possibilty is that the problem is related to your VAT system (Vehicle Anti Theft). Try using your spare key and see if that makes a difference.
