Default Torque Tube

I'm mechanically inclined, but my expertise lies mostly with the LT1 F-Body arena. I'm a bit confused as to the whole torque tube setup on the C5 and was wondering if someone would care to explain a bit???

Pictures preferably, as my ability to comprehend mass quantities of text based instruction is lacking. Just kidding.

Think of it as a very long connector plate, which connects the (front) engine with the (rear) transmission/differential (transaxle) so that the torque of the engine (under load) does not cause misalignment with the transaxle. If both components are in the same location, then there is no need for a torque tube.

The issue is that unlike most cars the driveshaft rotates at engine speed due to rear trans. Makes the vibration and balance more critical.
