Service Column Lock need help
Now everytime I start it up I get a "Service Column Lock".
How can I get rid of it?
Thanks for your help
you can have someone rock the car forward and backward while you yank on the steeting wheel jerking it sharply to the left then right.
the problem is with too tight a fit bewteen the locking pin and the locking plate.
If that doe snot work... it will have to be flatbedded to a dealer where they will disasseble the steering column....
the good news is there is a current notice that if this happens GM will pay
I guess I wasn't clear when I wrote the thread. The steering isn't locked. I can and have been driving it just fine. There is a message that comes up on the display panel when I start the car that saids "SERVICE COLUMN LOCK" I want to get that off and I don't know how?
Can you help me?

QUESTION: I still get the "Pull Key and Wait 10 Seconds" message and "Service Steering Column Lock" message? What do I do now?
A1 Sometimes the latching relay in the CLB can get out of sync sending the wrong status to your BCM. This has happened to a few folks even with the CLB installed. The CLB latching relay gets out of sync with the BCM possibly due to shock, vibration or relay contact bounce during switching which confused the BCM. The CLB does not physically know which state it should be in; it only switches from one state to the other when it receives a signal from the BCM. The BCM can be reset by pulling Fuse 23 and waiting 10 seconds.
A2 Check to make sure Fuse 25 in passenger footwell is good.
A3 Verify the black wire to your ECL or CLB is grounded (zero ohms resistance).
A5 Verify the green wire to the ECL or CLB is shorted to ground while in the "UNLOCKED" position and +12Vdc while in the "LOCKED" position.
A6 If you get the "Pull Key and Wait 10 Seconds" message but no "Service Column Lock" message, it could be your security system and related to your key pellet.
I have read the stickys and none answer the question of how to remove the "Service column lock" message.
I had this problem ovce before and the dealer fixed it, He told me he pulled a fuse and it reset itself. I moved since than and don't trust the dealers in this big city.
Can anyone help?

You the man. One of your last solutions was to reset fuse #25. I thought I did but apparently not. I just redid it and the service message is gone. Problem solved
Thanks to all of you for your help.
