Let me first start by saying that I have searched and searched and searched and found nothing. Both of my headlights will not go up or turn on. No grinding, all the fuses are fine, the battery terminal is secure.
My fog lights and driving lights work fine. If I manually raise them and then turn them on and off they will go down. If I turn them on, nothing happens, just a little click. I can get them to raise if the switch is on and I disconnect the + battery cable and then rub it on the + battery cable.
It seems like they are not getting enough juice. (oh yeah I recently tried with a brand new battery, still nothing) the initial jump or spark will make them go up but not turn on or go up if they are already connected.
It’s a 1997 if anyone has any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it.
When I was fitting my Euro headlights I managed to blow a fuse in the passenger footwell box. It was totally unrelated to the headlamp motors but that was the outcome. Dead motors
Off the top of my head I think it was #6 but I could be wrong
Worth doing a one by one check of those in the footwell to make sure all the fuses are good.
all the fuses are fine.... i believe its either the switch or the headlight control module... today i took the module apart and everything looked fine.... ugh i donno these parts are a little expensive for a trial and error fix...
one more thing, when the lights where off and i unplugged the headlight control module and then plugged back in i could get them to go up and down just by the way i plugged it in... this was also only possible by the larger connector as i'm guessing its the signal in. i also couldnt reproduce this when the lights where "turnt on"...
I looked in my service manual at the headlite wiring..They aren't as simple as they used to be...The main component is the headlamp control module..To operate the headlamp motors it reqiures diferent headlite on-off voltages to the inputs of the connector at he module..I did notice a ground (black wire on the connector) that could be at fault. Members are always having grounding problems..Another good possibility is the headlite switch as the output goes right to the same connector..The odd part is when the switch is off 12v should be on the DK GRN wire at he connector and none when the headlamps are on. when the headlamps are on 12V should be on the white lead..These are the headlamp on off signals to the module..It also appears that the headlamp on signal comes from the operation of the ALC HDLP Relay 44..That relay operates from a ground from the BODY CONTROL MODULE..I assume you checked the HDLP circuit breaker...That may be the relay you hear...Hope this helps..My manual is for a 2003 but I assume a 97 is similar
