Default Need Some Help Please!

I searched the forums and can't find this problem addressed anywhere. This is a stock 1999 C5 except for catback exhaust and CAG eliminator.
I'd appreicate your thoughts on this:

The temperature control panel light is remaining on. All the rest of the interior lighting/dash lighting goes out as it should. I have turned everything on/off a few times to attempt to re-set it but no luck.

Anyone encountered this or has some ideas?

My .02

If your temp gauge is reading correctly, a switch that turns that light on is defective. You need to check your codes to see if the computer is sensing this error. Most likely, it probably is not, but...

Otherwise you have a short turning the light on and most likely in the dash.

Good luck.

foremaw...

Check in the vicinity of the BCM, passenger side footwell. If you get water in you BCM it will do all sorts of strange things... including keeping the environmental control lit constantly... ask me how I know. I would also check for codes on the DIC. When the BCM is acting strange, it is not uncommon to throw codes. Once I found the source of water and dried the BCM (per Bill Curlee's instructions) everything has been fine.

Actually I've found that many of the seemingly strange things these cars (C5's & C6's) do is a result of electrical gremlins and the myriad of computers in the car. Whether it is low battery voltage or corroded grounds, they can be very exasperating... I would also recommend that you read through Bill's sticky at the top regarding electrical issues. There is a lot of information there and even if it doesn't solve your immediate problem, it will make you a much more informed Corvette owner.

Good luck and let us know what you find... GUSTO
