HELP! Irregular Coolant Temperatures
The last few days I have noticed extremely high coolant temperatures.
I recently got my A/C fixed and I haden't used it ever before that because it was just not very cold so I ran with the windows down.
The last couple of days it has been in the 90s here in florida so I have it on full blast and recirculating and today on the way home in traffic I saw 233! As soon as I turned it off it went down slowly and by the time I got home 10 minutes later it was at 212. Is this normal!?? I am scared by those temps.
I got my car tuned a long time ago and one of the things we did was have the fans come on earlier...The highest temp I'd ever seen since we tuned the car was 202 driving or 208 after getting back into the car 10 minutes later when it was parked and heat soaking. Before the tune the temps used to always get to 226 and then start going down from there.
Is one of my cooling components having an issue or does the A/C really put that much strain on the motor? I will have to run tomorrow without a/c and see what happens.

clean your radiator and condensor fins....I guarantee ya they have a tons of crap in there..I advise pulling the shroud off so you can clean from the top down as well...

Not sure if you are saying it didn't happen until the A/C repair, but if that is the case check and see if the fans are running as soon as the A/C is turned on. They should come on whenever the A/C compressor is running.
