Default C1214 ABS, Trac, ACT HAND code

Started getting an intermittent DIC Code C1214 ABS, Traction Cont, Active Handling Failure a week ago. Has now become constant and wont reset.

Manual says that code set by voltage to solenoid below 8 volts for .23 sec during ignition.

Any sugestions where to start? Battery seems ok, good starting and charging etc.

How do you get the elect connector off of the EBCM? Figured to clean that and the grounds.

Thanks

Phil

Its probably a bad thing if you're out of warranty

Could be an EBCM (Electronic Brake Control Module) needs replacing

Try this thread for some more info.

Bill Curlee has posted a great thread which shows how to clean up a couple of grounds. That cured his problem.

Just cleaned the grounds - weren't really too bad. and Removed the EBCM connector and cleaned it - also looked okay.

Fuses are all okay as are the battery Connections.

Still have the C1214

Will keep looking.

Do have an extended warranty so may have to take it in.

What did you pay for the EBCM??

What year is your car? For a 01-04 computer it's a $700 part. Mine did the same thing and I had to replace it.

Mine is an 02 and I had to replace mine also. Got one from gmpartsdirect.com for $572 but shipping was $120.

I complained to Chevrolet Customer Service that my car was only out of warranty by 6 months and only had 24k miles on it and they reimbursed me for the part and installation.

I am having the same issue on my 02 coupe. I have already gone through the grounds and replaced the battery (original AC/Delco). Mine is now at the point where code 1214 will not clear. I am trying to pull the EBCM out to clean its contacts but it does not want to budge (removed all 6 screws). Any suggestions on how to remove it?

Gary
