Default Engine Temp

Hello, what is the normal running temp for a vette in South Fl. Mine is running at 210 to 230, is this normal?

Thanks in advance.

In Daytona Beach my 99 run 198 - 204. Your's seems a little high to me but lets wait and see what others say.

Make sure that you check for debris up in the radiator. Pretty common problem.

Hello, I did clean the debris out of the radiator a few weeks ago. I had about 2 pounds of junk under there.

Thanks

When you cleaned did you get in between the a/c condensor and radiator? Also if you change stat to a 160 have a reputable tuner in your area reset the fans. Good luck and Happy Vetting!

Mine was starting to creep up, about 5 degrees every week or two until they were topping out in the 230 degree range. I had a leak in the coolant recovery tank so I replaced that and cleaned out around the radiator but it didn't make much difference. Then I replaced the thermostat with a new stock one and everything is back to normal, 198-210 range.

On a 100 degree day, on the highway, my A4 runs about 198 with AC on. When in stop and go trafic, same day it can get 225 plus, but cools back down when I get on the highway again. On a bit cooler days it will run about 194 more or less on the highway.

Both fans come on at around 235 degrees F, so that is normal. You should still check radiator for debris. Also, for "city" driving, if you turn on your Air Conditioner, it will turn on the fans and cool your temperatures.
