Well, im happy today. I plugged the fuse box in and the BCM in and the car fired up. It runs normal now but, I opened the BCM and the circut board was totally corroded. Some of the terminals were so badly corroded that they were no longer making contact with the board. I don't know how it is running but, all is good. Im going to go to a junkyard and get a BCM. Thanks guys for all the help. Hey Bill, do you have anymore pics or instructions of how to pull and clear that HVAC hose? I think that is what caused my problems.
That we use here, on our fuel injection work:
1. CRC electrical component cleaner. [Make sure it's plastic safe!]
2. Di-electric grease.
3. Misc "tooth brushes". [Brass, stainless, real t. brushes.]
We clean all connectors, and then lube with the grease. It's a big help, when doing maintenence. Alot less "green grunge" on connectors, etc...
Im so afraid to touch the connections at all. Thats how badly they are corroded.
My use of the items I described in my post were meant to be for general maintenence, and cleaning. Not for something that far gone!!
When it gets to that condition, it's obviously R&R time...
An additional check should be made, to see if the corrosion has leached under the wire insulation, past the connector pins.... If so, it will be necessary to shorten the wires, or replace the harness, and the device.
The BCM wiring harness connectors should be fine! As for a junkyard BCM,,I would purchase a new one form Fred Bean or Fichners Chevy! They give you a really good discount. The last time I purchased one it was $210. They are both forum sponsors! Your going to need to have the BCM programmed. There is a BCM sync procedure that you can try. If it works properly, you good to go!. I looked for it but cant find it. Maybe someone can attach it.
