I hate to give you bad news, but if the door is rubbing on the body and there are overlapping body panels, your car has been hit and not repaired correctly. I recommend you take it immediately to a reputable body shop and have them look over it thoroughly so you know what you have.
and told me no several times and said that the unibodies bend a little and it should be ok in a couple of days.
I can't tell you whether or not your car as been wrecked, but the above statement is complete non-sense. Anyone who would say such a thing probably can't be trusted in other areas. Besides, our cars have a frame, not unibody.
I can tell you that GM builds plenty of seam clearence between door and fender panels that if they are rubbing, you should suspect foul play. Carfax reports are for the most part useless, you can certainly wreck and repair a car and it will never show.

No. unibodies don't bend but the idea that the fender hits door indicates positively it's been in a wreck couldn't be farther from the truth! Just took delivery of new C6 coupe. Guess what, door rubs fender. No biggy, have your fav body guy adjust it. Don't worry, it's no big deal.

Do yourself a favor and have a bodyshop evaluate the car - the warning signs are there.

The door rubbing may or may not indicate the car was in a wreck. As mentioned before, take it to a professional and have them check.
As for Carfax, they only know about what they can find out from others (police agencies, ins. companies, etc). They don't know everything about all cars. Wreck your car and fix it yourself and no-one but you will ever know about it.
FWIW, Autocheck seems to have more accurate information. But again, they may not know everything.
Hey guys, I'm new here, but I just about a 2000 vette with $59,000 miles stock for 21k. I bought it from a private party and the only thing wrong was the center console needed replaced (no big deal) and a few nicks and scratches needed repainted. Well I had the guy deliver it to me from Michigan and I live in Kentucky and I handed him his money and he left. i looked over the car and didn't noticed anything unusual so I said fine and drove the car home. It drives perfectly fine with no mechanical faults. AFter I got home I noticed a weird sound when i would open the driver side door and noticed the door was rubbing the driver side fender just a tiny bit. I then called the seller and asked him if the car had been wrecked and told me no several times and said that the unibodies bend a little and it should be ok in a couple of days. I also had a carfax done on this car before I bought it and it had no problems and no accidents reported so I have the current carfax report. I was the 6th owner of the vette which really didn't bother me that bad, but i did noticed it was sold at an auction. Anyway, do you guys thing this vette has been wrecked and just fixed on the driver side? I also noticed up by the lights the fender overlaps just a little bit. Hope there are some guys that can help me and tell me how to really tell if this thing has been wrecked or if its possible that fiberglass does bend a little and maybe the door is just off a little? Any help is appreciated.

Like everyone has said... 6 owners in 6 years, sold at an auction, door rubbing on fender, the signs are all there. It has been hit and repaired no question about it. Hard to say just how bad the body damage was, your best bet is to have a reputable body shop assess the car. Myself, I would probably look to unload it, 5 or 6 prior owners of a 6 year old car would be difficult for me to rationalize.
Well guys I just got back from my body shop and have good news. He looked at the frame on the fender and it hasn't been modified or anything like that and not bent. he said it has not been wrecked. So I'm really happy to find out it hasn't been wrecked. Thanks for all the help guys.

He looked at the frame on the fender and it hasn't been modified or anything like that and not bent. he said it has not been wrecked but but the front bumper has been repainted but the mounts are good. he thinks they just nudged the front bumper and had it repainted. The door he said was 1/16 of an inch off and was probably just pushed back when there was a nudge. So I'm really happy to find out it hasn't been wrecked. Thanks for all the help guys.
As far as being sold at an auction a lot cars are sold that way just because there is no market for that type of car in their area. Good luck and I hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine.
