Default stability/traction control, yeah right!!

sitting at intersection getting ready to make right turn in my vette, (2002 vert z51, 6spd, vararam, headers, catback,4.10,s ) wanted to make quick get away but not spin the tires. lights changed made turn and the back came out to 45 degrees after i had rounded the corner and gave it half throttle and stayed that way 30 metres until i let off the throttle, to be honest it was a bit of a buzz, but not exactly the most intelligent thing ive done. but to the point where was my traction and stability control.
the tires were not warm , it was dry but cold. and the traction and stability were set on.

I had a similar "bone head" move one time on a very cold day on very cold tires, while trying to "show off".

The stock algorithms will allow a decent amount of wheel-spin before shutting down the party. Kind of glad it works the way it does, but as you've discovered it's not "human proof".

Two things could have happened. First, the system may not have been operational yet if you had just started the car and had not driven far enough for it to calibrate itself. Second, at low speeds the system uses the brakes first to control wheel spin and it will let the car go around quite a way before reacting to the slide. Once speeds increase it uses engine control to control wheel spin since engine controls react quicker. As speed rises it also tightens the active handling band (brake application) to keep the car more in line since you do not want it as out of shape at speed.

Mine is the same way. It gets pretty crazy before the s/c-t/c actually takes control of the car but try it sometime with those systems shut off.
I was making a left turn at an intersection and forgot that I turned off the t/c. Goosed it thru the turn and did a 180. Pretty embarrassing!:o

haha, same thing happend to me, sitting at an intersection gave it some throttle back end broke loose 45 to the right, then tried to correct it went 45 the other way and one more time to the right, caught it finally as soon as it got traction and corrected it. Thought i was going to have a heart attack,
