I have a 2001 mn6 and not sure if I have a problem or not. . . I am aware of the sound of the "marbles in a coffee can" that occurs when launching from first, but is there supposed to be that same sound when it is in neutral and you let out the clutch and rev the engine slightly. It is not as loud as when launching in first, but noticeable. If the clutch is in, no noise; let out the clutch there is the rattle/grinding sound.
I never noticed it before last night, but, of course, I wasn't listening for it either.
I tried the search function, but couldn't find anything.

Thanks for the help!!
I also have an '01 MN6 and have a LOT of noise idling in neutral w/ the clutch out. Not the same "marbles in a can" sound you get slowly driving in 1st. What is it?
It's parts banging around in the gearbox due to normal clearances as the input shaft changes speed. Engine rotation isn't perfectly smooth, but speeds up and slows down 4 times per revolution.
Most manual transmissions do this to some extent. Sound isolation isn't as good on the Corvette as in some other cars.
What's funny with my '02 is that it's not consistant. Most of the time I don't hear it, but when it occurs. I always get a small shot of adrenalin thinking something is about to fail...
Step on the clutch and it will stop. Remember, with the tranny in the back there is a whole lot of stuff in the drive tunnel turning with the car in neutral at engine rpms.
