With the planned installation of headers in the near future, will I need new plug wires? If so, what is everyone using? I have used MSD in the past and always felt the quality was excellent. Thanks!
The OEM GM wires are fine! If you read them with an OHM Meter and they read between 250-750 OHMS,, there fine! If you really want to up-grade, get the GM high performance red wires. What your looking for in a wire is QUALITY! They should fit properly and be able to stand up to the heat in the engine compartment. As long as they are not burnt, cut or the connectors inside the boots are not corroded, I would save my money for other things. If your old wires are good, spending $50-$200 on new wires will NOT do anything but empty your wallet. You will see ZERO HP INCREASES! Don't get caught up in the hype that some manufactures try to sell you!
I use the magnacore wires and have had very good service from them. I had to replace mine cause they were defective (open conductors causing high resistance). If I had to replace my wires today, I would purchase the GM High Performance (RED WIRES) They use the stock heat shields, are excellent quality and they are not too expensive!

I used GM High Performance wires from Fichtner Chevrolet. $49 and the part number is 12495519. And if I'm not mistaken they are a forum vendor. With new plugs it was a nice SOTP boost.
I had the msd wires until i burned 1 of them on the header. I switched to the taylor 10.4 (more for the looks) The stock wires will work fine. You might want to get a set of cool socks for your wires just to be safe

The MSD 8.5's ohm out at around 26 OHM's so there is deffently a performance advantage over the stockers. 250-750 OHMs is a lot for only 8 inches of plug wire. The Tylor 10.5's that I check ohmed out at 36-38 ohms.
