Can't find 1571, but 1516 is the TAC Module. A friend had this problem and the TAC Module had to be replaced. It is fairly easy, but you need to put the are on ramps or gain access to the panel underneath the car just behind the right front wheel. The TAC Module is in there and fairly simple to change one you gain access.

P1571 is ASR desired torque. Is your vette a 97? Because that code is very common on the 97 vette. Mine also has it. It will not cause a ck engine light so you don't have to worry about that code. Nobody really seems to know what causes that code. Mine also has it.

Clear all the codes out and then try it.

If you have a 97 and the TAC (Throttle Actuation Control) module has never been replaced, you should order a new updated module. There was a TSB that stated that the modules were known to be defective and should be up-graded to resolve the issue. It is an easy plug and play module. The access panel is in the passengers wheel well. Remove the wheel access the panel and the module is the black box on the side of the PCM. I had the same issue. mine would go into the "REDUCED POWER MODE" and barley run. It SUX to be on the highway and only be able to drive 10 MPH.

If you clear the codes, sometimes that will allow the PCM to return to the normal driving mode (for a little while). I would order a new module from one of the forum vendors Fred Bean Chevy or Fichtners Chevy. They give deeeeep discounts on new GM parts. The last time I purchased one from Fitchners, it was $210. Local Dealer wanted $420

Please let us know what you fine and how you make out!

Had the same problem with my '97. The 1571 code is always there for some reson. Never been able to get rid of it, but it would not cause the car to go into limp mode or trigger the check engine light. I changed out my tac module, and the car was fine for a little while. Checked and cleaned all under hood body grounds as per Bill Curlee's excellent post and still no help. Last thing i tried was to change out the Throttle Position Sensor under the hood attached to the throttle body. The part was $59 and the car runs perfect now for the last 3,200 miles. Try the tps first as it is the cheapest solution. It can be swapped in about 20 mins. The tac module is a little bit pricier, and a little more complicated to swap out. Best of luck!

Drive it like you stole it!!! If it goes back into reduced power mode,,rember to go into diagnostics mode and clear the codes for the PCM. It usually will get you back on the road again.

Get that new TAC Module!!!
