As I mentioned earlier, my harness was defective and the dealer removed it altoghther. They are experiencing the new harnesses having failures.
From a GM Tech I know: Have your dealer order 20 or so K Harnesses. Examine all of them. Throw out any that have a grey relay. Install any the black relay ones. You should be good to go.
I had mine lock for the first time last night ('99 w/ 25,000 miles). I had parked the car and turned the wheel to the right to angle the front tires. When I came back and started the car, I got the 'wait 10 sec.' message. I tried to start again it and got the column lock message.
I went back to the office and pulled up CF Tech section CLB FAQs. Someone's thread mentioned pulling the steering wheels hard to the right several times to free up the wheel. So I tried it and it worked. I heard and felt something pop and then the wheel turned free. I started it up and I drove home with no issues. Now I am spooked. What caused the failure and what was that 'pop' when I yanked on the wheel (maybe the locking pin being snapped)? Tom
