Default Drag Radials

I'm about to do major mods to my car and am gonna need a tire to keep it straight. What do you guys recommend for a mid 11's A4 with repro Z06 rims? Nitto has an 18" 305/45 but I'm not sure if it's gonna fit or look good. Let me know what you guys have. Thanks!

305/45-18 will be too tall. Look for a 35 series tire.

I'm running 315/35-17's on 17 x 11" wheels.

I use the BFG drag 295/35/18 for the track
and the 265/35/18 front 295/35/19 KDW 2 for the street. and they are much better then my old nitto extremes 275/40/18.
With the nittos i cound break them loose in 3rd now with the BFG kdw2 i get traction in 2nd (when warm )

I'd like to find a tire to keep on the car all the time. I know the BFG's don't last and the MT's probably don't either. Looks like I have to buy rims unless there are other options.

'Don't last' is relative.
BFG drag radials work well on the street, drag strip and solo 2 autocross.
I have a set of 315/30 x 18 on Z06 wheels that are starting to show cord on one edge of one tire, I got a lot use out of them. Hard burnouts at the drag strip are the biggest eater of them.
I got caught in a torrential downpour with them totally bald and drove 3 miles home up a mountain and never spun a wheel but they are not a rain tire.

I run Nitto 285 DR's and they make for a good compromise between a street and drag tire. They are fine in the rain.

I have the 305 Nitto DR's and I love them.I am at 12k on them now and expect to get 15k. Traction at the strip is not bad if you heat them up. I have run 1.6xx 60ft times with them.

285/35/18's here and are an excellent compromise overall.

Hmm. I never considered the 285's. Will the 305's stick out past the fenders? 285's should fit fine, but I would like the 305's if they don't stick out. Also, how tall are these?
I went a 1.55 on nitto's with my GN.

FRCBobby, do they fit flush with the fender/body line. I don't want the the tires sticking out.

Good info!!!! I have Pereilli P Zero 305's on CCW rims and they fit very well with out any problems. Im even considering going to the 315's.

On those rims they are just about flush.

I have had the nittos, in 305/35/18. They were not at all a good tire. My 500+ rhp car would eat them up as soon as i got on it... In the rain, i had to drive at a 50mph speed or they would spin/hydroplane. Not to mention, i only had 6 passes down the strip, and normal daily driving, and they lasted about 8K miles. The one thing about the nittos, is that even though they are 305 size, the look like a 285 size, they don't look as wide as they are suppose to, nitto under sizes them...

Now i have 315 BFG Drag radials, and hooooly good lord, these puppies hook!!!! they looks sweet too. drive great in the rain as well. So far, only about 2K miles on them, and look like the day i put them on. Can't go wrong with them man, i saw go for the BFG...

u might want to check, but i think MT just came out with a 305 or 315 size drag radial...

Perfect fit. My tires on standard Z06 rims do not stick out beyond the fender/body line.

Default Drag Radials

I have the BFG drag radials and I think they are great for the track. They hook very well. However, they are not safe on wet pavement. I got caught in the rain returning home from a trip to the drag strip. I was cruising between 55 & 60 mph and nearly lost my Vette because of the lack of traction.

I have run 295 35 BFG DRs, 275 40 MT Et st radials and now ET st bias ply. By far, the best tire on the street from my experiance is the BFG. They do not hook near the amount the MT do, and my short times dropped .13 going from BFG to MT, on the OEM clutch (1.70). If you are not too serious, the nittos are damn hard to beat for an all purpose tire. Since you have some Z rims on it, you might as well use one of your OEM 17s and throw the MT ET street raidals on and hook great at the track. If you are close to my neck of the woods, I have an extra set mounted that you can use. Good luck brother!
