Guys, I'm looking for an economical way here, So plz suggest my best option.
Should I go with a Yank 3000 TC, or the 3.42 gears. (I know BOTH would be good). If I do the 3000 TC alone, and keep my 2.73 Vs 3000 TC & 3.42 gears. Whats the difference I'll see. In other words 2 diff combos, plz suggest the main differences and Pros & Cons...
I went from 2.73 to 3.73 with a vigilate 3200 tc and love it. The change was not cheap around $3000.00 for the swap and dyno tune. But for that money I got a brand new car. With the 2.73 gears I could not even squak the tires from a stop:o Now from 15 mph roll I can light them up for a long way From a stop forget it just go up in smoke The car is so much more fun now

I appreciate your reply. But with all the Mods you had (before the gears/TC change), I can't believe you couldn't light em up... The reason your car is SO much FUN to drive is not just cuz of the gears and TC. I think the Headers and other mods play a very imp role in all this..
I currently have 2:73s and know what your going through. Im taking it in the shop next month and getting 3:90 gears and SS3600 stall. A few mwmbers on the forum have this setup and are VERY happy with it. good luck with your choice
I had 3:15s in my vert and when I put the H/C pkg. in it I changed the gears to 3:42s and got a 3500 yank. You can get a new diff for about $1100-1200 and sell your 3:15s for $400-500. The labor charge to change the diff when they pull the drive line down to replace the convertor is only about $100. I would not go below 3:42s unless you do very little highway driving and do a lot of drag racing.

keep the replies coming guys... So, what's the labor for changing a TC? I can add $100 to that for rear end change. And by the way I can't sell my rear end for 400-500, cuz its a 2.73, not a 3.15, A4.

That's basically the boat I'm in now. I think I have 3.15s but same general idea in terms of not really having explosive power off the line. Sure the car's still fast, but it doesn't have that punch that I was hoping for (I just got it a few weeks ago). I guess you'd say even though it'll cost around $3000 it's still definitely worth it? How's the car in terms of daily driving?
