I read all these mods people do and then the problems they end up with. There is a reason GM made it the way they did. They did a lot of research on every part and system. All I know for sure is with my 2001 and my 2003AE I have never changed anything or had the recall done and neither one has ever seen the dealer.

GM designs cars so that they please the GENERAL PUBLIC and not just one type of buyer. The car does well as designed but not the best that it could be for the people who want a louder, fasted, lower, meaner looking car. GM also has to pass some rather strict emissions and noise regulations. So,,the C5 is designed with all that in mind. The car can be better in a number of ways. There are products that GM designed that are failing left and right. They used the LOWEST BIDDER for the cheapest product and we are now paying the price! Wait until your well designed $700 EBTCM fails because of a dollar relay, or your $130 wheel speed sensor connectors fail because of a 3 cent female connector.

Just because you fall into that general category, and don't care to alter your car to please your needs for a different look sound or performance level, others have and will continue to do so.

BC

If you believe that GM designs everything perfect, I have a couple of bridges to sell you and,,oh yea,,,some land in Florida. Its very inexpensive too!!

Wow I had no idea people were so sensitive on this. I could give a squat what people do with their cars. I only pointed out a personal observation.

Sorry, but you sound like my dad.

it's called "personalization" of ones property - and it's not important that you understand it.

I agree, but "to each his own". If you want to mod, God bless ya, if ya don't thats fine also!

I personally do not compete with my car, so what it came with is more than enough for public road use, to me any extra is a waste, even doing autcross or HPDE's, stock would be enough for me,and I like not having any BS problems due to some mods, but like I said, its your car, do whatever you want to it!

If Mr. 50th really believes GM design/engineering cannot be improved on, there's really nothing you could say to dissuade him. He's already lost.

I never said you could not improve the car. I said the mods tended to create problems. The Computer controls so much of the car that even a little tinkering fouls it up. Try taking the black box out and see what the results are.

It all depends on what mods your willing to install. The C5 doesn't have XM radio, heated seats, decent headlights, of quality interior sound deadening. There are aftermarket suppliers that sell all of the above. Guess what?? GM realized that it was a good idea too. The C6 has all of that cool C5 aftermarket stuff already included !

MODs just don't include 700hp blowers or ear splitting mufflers and not all MODs are going to cause damage to your car or cause problems "IF INSTALLED CORRECTLY" and they will make life better. The first time you drive a C6 with HID headlight at night, you will wonder what GM was thinking when they left them off the C5 and start wondering about why there not on your car!

its all in what you like. if your like me? you dont want your vette looking like every other vette you may pass on the road. so i changed the wheels, added exhaust, tinted windows, and slammed it to begin with. yes, gm did tons of testing and made a great car w/ having to pass certain tests. but, your crazy if you think they didnt make this car inmind w/ certain areas to grow. look at all the aftermarket parts availible. you mean to tell me gm doesnt have their hand in any of it??
