Default Stereo Question

Quick question about the C5 Bose stereo. Are they like the old Bose Stereos for the 4th Gen Camaros? with the externally amplified speakers?

Reason for asking is that my stock 10 disc doesn't work and rather than replace that I would like to install and in dash CD player and then later on change the speakers. Will this work or do you need to change deck and speakers at the same time??

Yes some of the older, Camaros, and Caddys CD changers will work on the Vette. I do not know the part # of the other changers, but do a search and you'll find it.

Head over to the Audio/Electronics section and check out the C5 faq .. lots of info there. The stock bose, or as us audio people like to refer to it as blose, system is not very friendly to upgrades or additions. Generally speaking to do anything outside of a factory drop in replacement you need an adaptor or an external amplifier or aftermarket speakers.

There is a member who is working on a write up that will just replace the headunit and leave the rest of the system intact using an adaptor to make it all work.

You are Looking for the GMCRV1 which will interface an aftermarket head with the installed Factory BOSE System. It's made by SOUNDGATE. www.soundgate.com

+1 PAC, Metra, and MOST other "aftermarket" car audio suppliers have this harness as well. In the long run, ME being an AudioPhile.. just rip out the speakers, run GOOD quality wire to an amplifier, and install a good quality head unit. But that's me.. and I haven't rip'd out my Blose system yet....
