Default Headlight Question

I have a HEADLIGHT That is not going up and down as it should and the motor runs with no movement part of the time.

I understand that the gear is probably shot and intend to order the newer Brass replacements soon.

Have a question tho.

Is the gear on the motor itself also Plastic (NYLON) or is it Brass? If plastic - does it need replacing too?

Thanks,

Phil

I haven't had the oppotunity to take one apart yet, but I would offer this as my words.... If your getting a gear box rebuild set, replace ALL the parts now, or do it again in the future.

The gear is nylon. You can buy brass gears for the headlight motor. See most larger vette vendors: MidAmerica, WCC, CorvetteAmerica to name a few.

I know the stock Big Gear is NYLON and as I said I plan to replace it with BRASS. Was wondering about the small gear that's on the end of the motor shaft. (I've never had one apart either)

The BRASS GEARS sold by MID AM and others don't indicate a 2 gear (Big and Small) set, only the one big one.

So again - Is the small gear also NYLON or METAL??
