About a month ago I experience DBS on my 5 year old C5. Makes sense, 5 years = new battery. Not knowing any better I tried to jump start it and even at 2500 RPM the beast wouldn't light. I put in a new Optima Redtop and sure enough the car had no juice this morning. One month and the battery is dead! Not even the clock would display. WTF?
I guess I'll pull the battery and see if it has power, take the car in to the dealer for a charing issue??

Not fun!
Jump Starting a C5 is a NO NO, so I have been told. Causes all kinds of electrical issues.
There have been a number of threads in both the C5 and C4 sections in the last few months about Red Top batteries not lasting.
I had to replace a Delco AGM battery in my 02 a couple of months ago and it was only 2 years old. I went with a standard AC Delco wet battery.
Just curious, but have you checked the electrical system for an abnormal current drain? There is some drain because of the various systems that must be powered up, but a battery only lasting a month is suspicous.

You can just take the car to Autozone or Sears for a free alternator check. Mat be something as simple as that.
I went through 2 red tops and 2 yellow tops..... if you run them all the way down the plates sulphate and cause permanent damage. Quality control on Optimas isn't what it used to be years ago.... I'll never use one again. I'm using a Delco....no problems.
I must have gotten the last good red top I have had mine since last spring never been charged and it sat for as long as a month during the winter with out beeing started no issues with red top here
A friend put a Red Top in his AE just 3 weeks ago. It went belly up last week. Mine has been in for 4 months and no problems yet. He went to the dealer and had the electrical system checked out... $80 later he learned the battery was bad. I would go to a Red Top dealer and get the battery checked out first. It appears there is a real problem with Optima. Way too many reports of batteries failing early. Good luck.
Exide's warranty varies depending upon the battery you buy, but for the Exide Select Orbital
this is the warranty... http://www.exideworld.com/products/a..._84_specs.html
re: Exide Select Orbital Sealed VRLA (AGM) Automotive Battery - 84 Month Warranty 12..
I found the ground to be a bit loose but the bolt was real tight. I cranked to bolt very hard and the ground was tight again. No charging and I back on the road. We'll see what happens in a while..
Its a shame that Optima's quality sounds like its on the decline. Some batteries are defective. It's good practice to always get your old battery checked before buying a new one. I found out once the hard way, that my alternator was slowing dieing, causing my battery to run out of juice.
