Default Clearing codes for inspection

Is there a way to clear the codes long enough to pass a state inspection?

You can clear codes but then it will show that the car is not ready for testing and they're going to tell you to go back in a week. What kind of codes are they anyhow?

It sounds like the test is different from state to state. We use a standard obd2 (1995+ cars) here in CT. The codes can be reset right before the test and it will pass. I've done this on two cars that I own and it worked, even though most said that it wouldn't.
