Ok one prevous thread i had no oil going to valve train, now i do, but only one rocker is spitting oil spray out of it like it has hardly no oil in it and tapping, I can shut off the car and pull the valve cover and i can push the back tip of the rocker down and it moves in about 1/8 inch, So anyone think i can save it by using motor flush or spraying down the pushrod with carb cleaner and wacking it with a rubber mallet? I would hate to have to pull the head to replace lifters but it isnt too bad to do tho.. I am running a LS6 03 camshaft with ported LS1 heads, i know the pushrods are different length but seemed to run fine with no noise till i restared my car then ban a lifter clack..

Yea it looks good, lifter is just spitting out oil like air mixed in not like the others that are oozing oil..

I checked the rocker arm in it has alot of up to down play on one end of the bearing. i started the car without the rocker on there and noise is gone so its gotta be the rocker arm.

since the cam is oiled too it may not be the lifter. For the sake of a few parts like a cam and all the other goodies, you may be risking the entire engine. I'd pull the head and get a good look at the cam lobes before running it again.

Better safe...

well the funny thing is it goes from different lifters now.. So i am just gonna repalce them all since i used my old ones that have 50,000 miles on them so also i am using LS1 heads with a LS6 03 cam maybe the pushrod length has somthing to do with it... They were nice and quiet a day before but now there not.. I am also gonan change the oil filter maybe it got clogged and using the bypass but not much oil goes throught the bypass.... Will keep this updated

Don't think its the lifters, the symptoms just don't seem correct based on what you have posted. How did the valve train get oil, did you change/correct something? What length pushrods are you running? Were they new when you installed them? Did you flush them if they were as they have an anit-corrosive on/in them when new.

Ok i changed the oil with regualr dino oil and cheap supertech filter and took her for a drive and the sound is almost gone after 20 min drive, And i did noticed when i changed the oil assembly lube came out and wasnt dissolved at all hardly, I take it senthetic royal purple does not break down BLACK MOLY LUBE i used when i put the engine together. So the cheap walmart supertech oil solved the problem witht he assembly lube. I did add some 5 min engine flush before i changed the oil.. Gonna go for a longer drive and rev on her and see if the tapping totaly stops. Seems it was a lifter clogged with assembly lube. I will never use Black Moly Lube again on a LS1.... Warning to all members who build LS1's dont use the black moly lube you get at shucks or napa since the synthetic oil doesnt dissolve the lube. Unless you run DINO oil. Regular Type
