Getting a RR HIGH tire pressure reading in my '99. 36 psi isn't high. Can this thing be reprogrammed or do I need to go to the dealer for a new transmitter ??
Thanks,
Vinny
Why would your tire pressure be at 36 psi? That's going to cause the center to wear out very quickly. Get it down to 30 and then check the accuracy of its sensor.
Are you getting the warning gong and the message on the DIC that says your tire pressure is too high but all you are reading is 36 psi? The warning goes off when pressure exceeds 42 psi if I remember correctly.
You are correct. The reading on the dash is 45 which triggers the "high pressure" message. The tire gauge says 36. It is the inaccuracy that bothers me. You guys all seem to think 36 is too high anyway so I'll try 30 or 32 all around. I used to run 40 all around on my C4, dropping the rears at the drag strip. But I guess that was a completely different type of tire. Anything I can do about the inaccuracy??
Thanks,
Vinny
Are you sure the tire gauge you are using accurate? If so you probably need to replace the sensor because the battery could be on its way out. You profile says you have a 99, so if you have original sensors I would replace them all at this point since they are 7 years old.
I run 28 COLD on the rears and 30 Cold on the fronts on my stock size 02 Z06 tires (295). I have 100% even tire wear across the width of all four tires original tires! The C5 tires are wide and do not act like other tires to pressures as low as we are recommending.
I changed out my rear tires from 295's to 305's and it looks like I may need to re-evaluate my cold pressure setting for the rears. I may need to go as low as 26 cold on the rear tires as the centers are wearing a little more than the rest of the tire.
Works well for me at those pressures!
35-40 cold is very high and you will see significantly more wear in the center area of the tire than youwould if you dropped the pressure down to 28-30 psi cold. Yu will also see pressure warnings when the tires get HOT.
